Over a dozen injured as picnic bus overturns near Shranz waterfall Five picnickers are said to be critical and have been referred to District Hospital Baramulla for advanced treatment.

Sopore June 22: Over a dozen passengers were injured after a bus carrying them on a picnic overturned near Shranz waterfall in Baba Reshi area of north Kashmir Baramulla district on Tuesday afternoon. Reports said that the bus bearing registration number JK05- 9752 was on its way from Kichhama Baramulla towards Shranzfall Baba Reshi when it met with the accident reportedly after the driver lost control over it. All the injured persons were shifted to a nearby hospital. Five among the injured are said to be critical and have been referred to District Hospital Baramulla for advanced treatment. A police official also confirmed the accident and said the injured were evacuated immediately by police to a nearby hospital. He said that a case has been registered in this regard.

Another spell of rain or snow in J & K

Weather remained dry in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on Tuesday as the Meteorological (MeT) Department forecast another brief spell of rain and snow in the two union territories that will begin on Wednesday.

“Today weather will be generally cloudy in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh with 50 per cent chances of brief shower in the evening at isolated to scattered places of J&K.

“Scattered to widespread rain/thunderstorm and snowfall over higher reaches like Gulmarg, Zojila and on higher reaches of Leh-Manali highway is likely during April 21 and 22. Thereafter, mainly dry weather is expected till April end,” a statement of the MeT department said.

Orchardists in the valley have expressed concern over rain and inclement weather during April as they fear this could damage this year’s fruit crop because apple and other fruit trees are in bloom this time.

Srinagar had 7.2, Pahalgam 1.4 and Gulmarg 1.0 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

Leh town of Ladakh had minus 1.1, Kargil minus 1.5 and Drass minus 4.5 as the minimum temperature.

Jammu city had 17.6, Katra 16.0, Batote 10.4, Banihal 10.6 and Bhaderwah 7.3 as the minimum temperature.

Night curfew duration increased by 2 hours in J&K

Amid surge in Corona cases, the government on Sunday increased duration of night curfew in Jammu and Kashmir by two hours.  “The State Executive Committee, in exercise of the powers conferred up on it under sec.24 of the Disaster Management Act,2005, hereby orders that night curfew timings within municipal/Urban local body limits of all districts of J&K shall be from 8 pm to 6 am instead of 10pm to 6am,” the government said. 

COVID-19 surge: Curfew announced in J&K from 8 pm tonight till Monday morning

There will be a complete COVID-19 curfew in entire Jammu and Kashmir from 8PM tonight till 6AM Monday, April 26, Office of the Lieutenant Governor , Manoj Sinha announced on Twitter.   All market, commercial institutions will remain closed, it said adding essential and emergency services will be allowed to function.
