Over a dozen injured as picnic bus overturns near Shranz waterfall Five picnickers are said to be critical and have been referred to District Hospital Baramulla for advanced treatment.

Sopore June 22: Over a dozen passengers were injured after a bus carrying them on a picnic overturned near Shranz waterfall in Baba Reshi area of north Kashmir Baramulla district on Tuesday afternoon. Reports said that the bus bearing registration number JK05- 9752 was on its way from Kichhama Baramulla towards Shranzfall Baba Reshi when it met with the accident reportedly after the driver lost control over it. All the injured persons were shifted to a nearby hospital. Five among the injured are said to be critical and have been referred to District Hospital Baramulla for advanced treatment. A police official also confirmed the accident and said the injured were evacuated immediately by police to a nearby hospital. He said that a case has been registered in this regard.

Anantnag encounter: Two more militants killed, toll three

Two more militants have been killed in an encounter that raged between security forces and militants in Vailoo area of Kokernag belt in South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Tuesday, taking the toll of killed militants to three.  A police spokesman said that three unidentified militants have been killed while as operation is on in the area. Earlier, an official said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 19 RR and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area. He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

90 Palestinians injured in E.Jerusalem clashes

Some 90 Palestinians were injured in the second night of the ongoing violent clashes with Israeli security forces in East Jerusalem, it was reported on Sunday. Sixteen of them were taken to hospital, Israeli radio reported, citing Palestinian medics. An Israeli police spokesman said on Sunday morning that confrontations took place on Saturday night at the Damascus Gate, one of the entrances to the Old City, and around the holy site known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary, reports dpanws agency. Several arrests were made, the spokesman added. Police used rubber bullets, tear gas and stun grenades, media reports said. On Saturday, more than 90,000 devout Muslims had gathered in the Noble Sanctuary, where al-Aqsa Mosque is located, to pray on the last weekend before the fasting month of Ramadan ends.

Two Corona positive brothers booked for roaming freely in Handwara

Jammu and Kashmir police Thursday said it has booked two Corona positive siblings for violating Covid-19 guidelines and SOPs in Hajishart Village of Langate in north Kashmir’s Handwara. A police official said the duo were positive for the Covid-19 and were roaming freely in the area putting the lives of people at stake. According to police spokesman, acting tough against the violators of Corona curfew guidelines, Handwara police booked 02 persons for violating guidelines/ curfew orders issued by DM Kupwara.  Police have identified the duo as, Tajamul Islam and Nafeesul Islam Sons of Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh resident of Hanji Shart.  Both have been booked in Case FIR NO. 121/2021 under relevent sections of law and investigation is set into motion. Record 52 new COVID-19 deaths, 4710 cases in J&K

The fresh fatalities comprise 28 in Jammu division and 24 in Kashmir Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday reported a record single day spike of 4,716 new COVID-19 cases and 52 more deaths.  As per the government data, the fresh cases comprise 3,198 in Kashmir division and 1,518 in Jammu reported in the last 24 hours as on 5 pm today.  Of the 52 fresh fatalities, 28 of them have been reported in Jammu while 24 were reported in Kashmir taking the overall tally in J&K to 2,510. The overall death toll comprises 1,476 in Kashmir and 1,034 in Jammu.  There are a total of 39,628 active cases in J&K,- 25,552 and 14,076 in Jammu. 

Corona curfew to continue on every weekend

J&K government on Sunday ordered that there will be complete weekend ‘Corona’ curfews within municipal, urban local body limits in all 20 districts of the UT from 7:00 pm every Friday till 7:00 am every Monday. However, as per guidelines and instructions, issued by the State Executive Committee (SEC), on COVID containment measures in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, which will take effect from today, no Deputy Commissioner or any subordinate Magistrate would impose any local lockdown, outside notified Containment Zones.
